SSC MTS 2025 exam pattern

The SSC MTS 2025 exam pattern consists primarily of a Computer-Based Examination (CBE), which is mandatory for all posts. For candidates applying for Havaldar posts, there is an additional Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST).

The most critical aspect of the 2025 pattern is that the exam is divided into two sessions held on the same day. Session 1 is qualifying in nature (no negative marking), while Session 2 decides your final merit (with negative marking).

1. Computer-Based Examination (CBE) Pattern

The exam is conducted in two mandatory sessions. You must attempt both; failure to attempt any session will disqualify you.

2. Key Marking Scheme Details

• Marks per Question: Every correct answer awards 3 marks.
• Session-I (Math & Reasoning): There is no negative marking. This session is qualifying; marks from this session are not added to the final merit list, but you must clear a minimum qualifying standard to have your Session-II checked.
• Session-II (GK & English): There is a negative marking of 1 mark for every incorrect answer. Your final rank/selection is based solely on marks obtained in this session.

3. Physical Test (PET/PST) – For Havaldar Posts Only

Candidates applying for Havaldar posts must clear these physical standards after the written exam.

A. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

• Walking:
  • Male: 1600 meters in 15 minutes.
  • Female: 1 Km in 20 minutes.
  • Note: Cycling has been removed from the PET requirements in recent notifications for CBIC/CBN Havaldar posts.

B. Physical Standard Test (PST)

• Male:
  • Height: 157.5 cm (relaxable by 5 cm for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and ST members).
  • Chest: 81 cm (fully expanded with a minimum expansion of 5 cm).
• Female:
  • Height: 152 cm (relaxable by 2.5 cm for specific categories).
  • Weight: 48 kg (relaxable by 2 kg for specific categories).

4. Language of Examination

The Computer-Based Examination is set in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu).

5. Selection Process Summary

1. Computer-Based Exam (Session I & II): All candidates take this.
2. PET/PST: Only for candidates short-listed for Havaldar posts based on Session II performance.
3. Final Merit List: Prepared solely based on marks scored in Session-II (General Awareness + English), provided the candidate qualifies in Session-I.
4. Document Verification: Conducted by the user departments after the final result declaration.
